Balthazar smiled, kissed her again. “So, did you have a particular day you wanted to get married?” he asked.
She shook her head. “No, not really.” she said, leaning against him.
“Well,” said Balthazar, giving a light shrug, “how about next week?” He glanced around. “We can do it right out here. Nice and small.”
“That sounds perfect.” she said, smiling.
“Then it’s settled,” he said, smiling.
She smiled and leaned up, kissing him softly. “I love you.”

He glanced down at her, smiled softly. “Of course, Candyce. You know you can ask me anything.”
“Do you think we can get married soon?” she asked. “If something happens to either of us in this war….I’d like to have had the time to call you my husband.”
“I think I’d like that,” he said quietly. He brushed his thumb along her chin, kissed her gently. “I think I’d greatly like that, my love.”
She smiled and kissed him softly. “I love you, Balthazar.” she murmured, arms wrapping around him.

“No,” he said, blushing. “I was trying to be funny and … I don’t know.” He glowered, blushed harder. “Well. Joke, lead balloon, cliff.”
Candyce laughed and kissed his cheek. “I love you.”
Balthazar chuckled, turned his head and caught her lips. “I love you, too.” He stroked her hair. “It’s turning into a gorgeous night. It’s so clear,” he whispered. He looked up at the stars. They filled the night sky, winked at them.
She smiled and leaned into the kiss before resting her head back on his shoulder. “Balthzar, can I ask you something?” she asked softly.

Balthazar smiled. “Well, I was thinking Emily if it’s a girl, and Gregory if it’s a boy.”
“I like those names.” she said, smiling. “What are you hoping for? Boy or girl?”
Balthazar shrugged. “Honestly?” He smiled, gently stroked Candyce’s arm. “I’ll be rather ecstatic with either.”
“I feel the same way.” she said. “I never thought I’d have another kid.”
Balthazar chuckled, held Candyce closer. “Well, if it means anything … I’m glad you are.” He glanced down at her. “Of course, it could just be that I’m happy it’s mine.” He gave an amused laugh.
“Is that some sort of jab that it was a thought it was someone elses?” she asked, eyebrow raised. “Cause you’re the only one I want to be with.”
“No,” he said, blushing. “I was trying to be funny and … I don’t know.” He glowered, blushed harder. “Well. Joke, lead balloon, cliff.”
